How long does the eviction process take in Harris County?
Harris County is one of the most streamlined counties in the state of Texas for evicting a tenant from a property. The process from start to finish generally takes 4 to 5 weeks -- from when a legal action is initiated to when the sheriff and locksmith shows up at the door to remove the tenant(s) from the property.
The tenant can try to contest the eviction, but Harris County judges generally don’t sympathize with tenant excuses for why they can’t pay the rent.
